As the need for complete separation becomes less and less, many of the best studios in Chicagoland (including Butcher Boy) have NO glass between the artists and the engineer/producer. As explained by Jim Tullio himself this new idea has made records sound more intimate, and feel more intimate because they are more intimate. Don’t get me wrong, because of the advances of technology we still have every sound completely isolated on it’s own track when it needs to be. 

In addition to the amazing instruments we share with our clients, we also boast incredible amps made by Fender, Orange, Yamaha and Yorkville. All are at your disposal to make you sound as good as you possible can.

Our Pro-Tool rig has all the bells & whistles, an abundant amount of plug-ins and audio suites give limitless possibilities...

Piano Room

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL.  A YAMAHA C7 GRAND PIANO.

This seven foot six inch concert grand piano is consistently tuned and maintained by Ken Hall and was voiced by Yamaha authorized piano technician Albert Fooksum. It is kept at perfect room temperature as well as perfect and ideal humidification. It’s smooth responsive touch is highly expressive and rings gorgeously in the room that is it’s home.

I’ve recorded some of the greatest drummers in the world and some of the best drum sets in the world. Well Roland has finally hit the mark. Their V-Drums have 100 amazing different drum sounds at the touch of a button.

With the ability to alter tone, attack, volume, microphones, room size and overall ambience, there is nothing we can’t do! Plus, these drums are a pleasure to play; all the benefits of playing like real drums without any of the drawbacks...
